• Broker’s Opinion of Value- This is a limited scope business valuation most appropriate for businesses with annual sales of $2 million or less. The basis of this valuation is generally Seller’s Discretionary Earnings (SDE) since most main-street businesses sell on a multiple of SDE. We typically use comparable market based approaches to estimate value.
• Formal Valuation- The Formal Valuation can be limited scope or full blown depending on the needs of the owner. It is intended for main-street and middle-market privately owned businesses with sales to $25 million. The report heavily emphasizes ratios and financial analysis along with comparable sales trends. We work with independent third-party professional valuation firms with both scope and cost depending on the complexity and requirements of the valuation. Some common situations requiring this level of valuation are divorce, partner or shareholder buy-outs, estate valuation or litigation.
Exit Planning- Let’s face it- every business owner will eventually exit the business. It’s best to have a plan in place to make the event as smooth, financially rewarding with as little stress as possible. Being prepared is the first rule of success in any field of endeavor. We will first help you identify and outline your priorities and objectives. We will review and analyze your business practices, financial record keeping, financing & debt structure and other areas of your business to identify changes that will improve the final sale value of the business. We will review & identify industry, market and financing trends to help determine proper timing of the sale. We will identify and recommend third-party professionals where appropriate in that process. Only then can you, the business owner, be properly prepared for the time consuming, complex and often emotionally taxing process of marketing the business. By identifying and defining your personal needs and the risks you will and will not accept you will be better prepared for the selling process.
Financing Arrangements- It should be recognized that business values will rise and fall based in part on the availability and terms of external, third-party financing. In the current economic climate maintaining close relationships with local and national financing sources is key to a successful transaction and that is one of our priorities. Keeping a pulse on which lenders are partial to a particular industry, size of transaction or other business or buyer qualifications is something we keep abreast of almost daily and has been a factor in our success.
Advisory Services- A growing part of our practice has been

We do not pretend or claim to be experts in all fields but our Associates have varied backgrounds in business ownership and management that can be of great value to business owners in identifying and solving their problems.
