Good News at last!
The number of business sales reported in the third quarter increased by 7.4% as compared to a 30% drop the same quarter last year according to bizbuysell.com, one of our online marketing partners. That is one of the best signals of a recovery in our industry this year. Projections for the 4th quarter 2009 and first quarter 2010 are equally enthusiastic. Combine all this with relaxed (and reasonable) SBA lending regulations and a noticeable improvement in buyer confidence and 2010 could be a great year to sell a business.
Locally, we have also seen a recent surge in buyer activity and they are getting serious about owning their own businesses. The casual, almost “curiosity” approach we saw in many buyers earlier in the year has been replaced by determination and focus. Even the private equity groups are becoming more active at lower levels of earnings criteria.
Bottom line…if you have been thinking of selling, or know someone who is, let’s talk now.
